Ligurian Extra Virgin Olive Oil Maixei is produced exclusively from the Taggiasca variety, planted centuries ago in the territory of Taggia by Benedictine monks. It has the unique and genuine taste of a fresh product, obtained from the simple pressing of superior quality olives. It has healing, antioxidant and protective effects on our vascular and cardiovascular systems.
This oil is in fact the result of a long and careful selection, without any additions or mixtures, and exclusively mechanical processes. It comes mainly from the hinterland, that is why it has a lower acidity than oils from coastal cultivation.
Ligurian DOP Oil
A tasting commission of excellence (Panel) promotes only the oil samples that do not show any defects and that embody all the distinctive traits of Ligurian DOP (Denomination of Protected Origin) oil from Cultivar Taggiasca. The Maixei oil mill has recently been awarded the ability to issue the Olio DOP Riviera Ligure certification to those who supply fruit from DOP olive groves.
The distinctiveness of Maixei’s Ligurian DOP extra virgin oil is found in the light, fruity and particularly sweet character, with low acidity. Excellent as a dressing, it enhances seafood dishes, meats and sauces and makes us proud to be producers of Olio Ligure.
