Moscatello di Taggia DOC

This ancient Ligurian grape is a clone of Moscato Bianco, in 1400 it had conquered the court of kings and popes and was cultivated throughout the extreme western Liguria from Taggia to Ventimiglia and found its place of choice in Taggia. Lost, it was rediscovered thanks to a joint effort by the Liguria Region and the University of Turin.

Description

TASTING: a still dry and aromatic wine that combines the typical aroma of Moscato with its sensations of sage and lychee with a strong citrus note of cedar and chinotto. This citrus note makes it particularly elegant and suitable to accompany an entire meal of fish and vegetables, the undisputed queens of Ligurian cuisine.

PRODUCTION AREA: the vineyard is located in the locality “Beusi” in the municipality of Sanremo and overlooks the ancient village of Bussana Vecchia, at an altitude of about 200 meters and an exposure between the south and south-west. The soils are calcareous-clayey.

CULTIVATION SYSTEMS: the plants are grown using the espalier system with Guyot pruning, all operations are carried out by hand or with the minimum mechanization allowed by the typical Ligurian terraces.

Features

VINIFICATION: the hand-picked grapes are taken to the cellar where they rest for a night to be cooled. The following morning they are pressed very softly. The must is cleaned and fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (between 12 and 14 degrees).

Refining at controlled temperature until bottling.
